Colorado Vacation 2009

The following blogs contain photos taken on my camera during our very enjoyable trip to Colorado. Carly, Tony and Debbie also took pictures on their cameras and we will see them soon. The seven of us flew from Houston to Denver on Saturday July 25, 2009 and arrived in Denver, rented a minivan, then went to the REI in Downtown Denver. Carly, Tony, Ben, Liam, Harrison, Debbie and I spent some time in town and purchased some needed items for our trip into the mountains. We traveled a slower route to Estes Park that allowed us to go by Oskar Blues, a place we later drove to twice for dinner while staying in the mountains. (Dales Pale Ale - really good).

Later in the day we arrived at our "resort" and the stone house we rented. Other than it smelled, had brown water, pipes leaked, roof leaked and came with its own continental divide, it was OK. If you're into yoga, or like sleeping like a bat you would love sleeping in the bed Debbie and I had. We never slept in a room that was down hill.

Tony and then Ben were ill the first few days and Tony started feeling better Wednesday when we climbed Mount Lily. We may come back later and hike up Twin Sisters Mountain another time, but this trip all of the hikes and horseback riding gave me plenty aches and pains to recover from upon our return. Due to a lot of cloud cover and rain I was not able to get pictures of Longs Peak, the signature mountain of Rocky Mountain National Park.
